"The process of making is a celebration of life."

Dear Friends of The Art School at Old Church:

Many, many thanks to all who have supported our journey back to being fully open. As we continue to navigate uncertain times, we hope you will support our efforts to provide the unique arts and cultural experiences that have distinguished our community for 48 years. If you are familiar with our school, galleries, and community partnerships, you know that our staff, faculty, and volunteers work, day and night, to ensure that individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities have equitable access to our programs and events.
Since reopening in June 2020, we have continued to provide new courses and workshops that highlight diverse perspectives. In June, we reopened our two galleries to the public. With foundation support, we awarded $25,000 in tuition scholarships. And after two years online, our legendary “Old Church Pottery Show” will soon return as an in-person experience. We are thrilled that 28 renowned ceramicists from the U.S. and Canada will exhibit and sell their work here in Demarest from December 2nd through the 4th.
In 1974, visionary artists saw promise in an old church building and set out to create an environment that would foster creativity, dialogue, and an enduring sense of community. Nearly half a century later, participants in our programs and outreach initiatives range in age from six to 96 years. Please donate today so that everyone can benefit from lifelong learning in the arts.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jerry M. James
Executive Director
